Description

Fourth edition of Bollinger PN, cuvée PN AYC18 magnifies Pinot Noir exclusively from the village of Aÿ.   Each edition gives free expression to a main cru and a base year meticulously selected by Bollinger.  This 100% Pinot Noir blends the richness of the Aÿ terroir with the exceptionality of a wine made partly from 2018.   Made largely with 2018 magnums of Réserve, the chalk, characteristic of the Aÿ terroir plays a regulating role in the ripening of the fruit. A beautiful gesture of nature, which gives life to its emblematic character: uprightness, length and amplitude.  The year 2018 was marked in Champagne by an early and abundant harvest. Despite high temperatures, the chalk allowed the grapes to retain their concentration, natural ripeness and sustained acidity essential to making a quality Champagne.gourmet notes of honey, fruit paste, quince and candied citrus emerge on the first nose.  After aeration, aromas of almond paste and blood orange round out this sweetly spiced nose endowed with a refreshing menthol note.  The palate is deep, subtle and rich, offering fine amplitude and a candied citrus finish that enhances the freshness of this wine. This Champagne is complex, straightforward and beautifully fresh, and will go well with fish dishes such as sea bream or scallop ceviche, or simply be enjoyed as an aperitif.
