Description

A blend of very old Cognacs with an average age of 45 years. Conceived by Jean Burnez, grandfather of the current President, in the early 1930s under the name of 'Patriarche', this cup remains the personal selection of the head of the family. While the base, made up of very old cognacs aged in cool, damp cellars, has remained unchanged for three generations, each Cellar Master has brought his own personal touch to the product by adding a few eaux-de-vie, while respecting the natural, round and complex character of this great cognac. Claude, Jean's son, made it evolve towards a fuller style with more woody eaux-de-vie, while Stéphane, his son and current Maître de Chai, develops a slightly more modern and lighter style, with less wood, preferring to find more the natural taste of the eaux-de-vie instead of that of the barrels in which they have aged. Through historical and future evolutions, the Très Vieille Grande Champagne will remain one of the unavoidable signatures of the Prunier House, a magnificent example of what the first growth of cognac is capable of.
