Deutz Amour de Deutz Rosé 2013

Description
"The prestige vintage Rosé from the Deutz House, from their best plots." 2013 was a late year for the vineyards of Champagne. It began with a long, cold winter that lasted until mid-April, causing a significant delay in the vegetative cycle. Spring, though mild, was marked by little sunshine and frequent rain. However, from mid-June onwards, exceptionally warm weather and Sec temperatures enabled optimum ripening. A few showers in September allowed the berries to gorge themselves with juice. The results are very heterogeneous, but this is a great vintage, even very great for the Grands Crus. This Champagne Rosé is a blend of 58% Pinot Noir from the communes of Aÿ, Verzenay, Ambonnay and Bouzy, all in Grand Cru, and 42% Chardonnay from Avize in Grand Cru, Vertus and Villers-Marmery in Premier Cru. For color, 6% red wine, from parcels of old Pinot Noir vines "La Pelle" in Aÿ (Grand Cru) and "Charmont" in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ (Premier Cru). This Champagne Rosé offers a sparkling robe, a beautiful pale pink gold with coppery highlights. The nose opens with notes of fresh red berries, strawberry, raspberry and cherry, as well as blackberry and a touch of vanilla. A hint of rose petal confirms the wine's elegance and refinement. The intense, silky palate confirms the first delicious impressions of wild berries, supported by a mineral structure that restores balance. L'Amour de Deutz Rosé 2013 will pair happily with a grilled Breton lobster - or "petit bleu" - but could also be the right accompaniment to pigeon with cherries.
